Genetics of infectious diseases
Modern genetic methods (PCR; RT-PCR; sequencing; hybridization techniques) are the gold standard for detecting viral and bacterial genomes. These tests are faster, more sensitive, and more specific than any other diagnostic approach.
Genetic diseases
Genetic diseases are caused by a change in the DNA sequence. They can be caused by a mutation in one gene (monogenic) or in multiple genes (polygenic). Genetic predisposition is an increased likelihood of developing a particular disease based on individual genetic characteristics.
Parentage Testing
